Dear 2015,
I just wanted to take a moment to introduce myself before we start working together this year. As you may or may not know, I am a 47 year old mother of five who has been fortunate enough to be able to stay home with her children for the past 16 years. I am a Registered Nurse by training and have maintained my license for the past 22 consecutive years. Considering the fact that I’ve had to renew every two years, means that at 11 different points in time I’ve either been either nursing a child, 40 weeks pregnant, managing a newborn and a 2 year old at the same time, had 3 children under the age of 3, 4 children under the age of 7, or 5 children under the age of 10. I am a tireless and relentless worker. Quitting is not in my vocabulary, though sometimes I think it would serve me well if I knew how to do just that. My husband travels monthly, sometimes for a week at a time. Having grown up a military brat, I am familiar with long absences and the value of self-reliance. My mom was a great role model in that regard, so the wheels keep turning, regardless. Last year was a bit of a rough one for us, so I’d appreciate it if you could talk to management and see if I can get a steady assignment without much grief, you won’t be disappointed if you do. My oldest daughter was diagnosed with Cystic Fibrosis in 2013 if you’d like to talk to them. You might want to conference in 2009, 2010, 2011, and 2012 about my work then as well. The first two years, 2009 in particular, is when my husband had open heart surgery and nearly died from complications and 2011 is when my daughter first got sick. I almost quit 2012 due to mini-strokes and the fact that after working so hard for the previous 3 years and navigating three teen children, I was quite exhausted. 2013 and 2014 were huge years of personal growth for me: I found my passion, found myself again, and renewed my zeal for life.
Thank you again for your invitation to get to know one another. I’ve included my resume’ as a reference. I’ve had great success working from home and have added “Private In-home Lactation Consulting”. “Blogger” and “Nutritionist specializing in weight loss and fitness-related Nutrition to my resume.” Before we agree to work together I just want to say that, above all else, my family comes first. One of the things that my past has taught me, is that I cannot help them if I do not first help myself, so for that reason alone, I will be setting boundaries again this year. I was able to do so for 2013 and 2014 and it worked out well.
I appreciate the time that you’ve given me and I looking forward to working with you this year!!!
Respectfully,
Trish
