I have been waiting for months to read Vani Hari’s a.k.a The FOOD BABE’s book The FOOD BABE Way since she made the announcement last year that it would be going to press in 2015 and I was not disappointed!!! As much hype as there is about Vani’s “scare tactics” I want to pose this question: Why are people MORE outraged about Vani’s attempts to educate consumers about the Food Industry’s practices and LESS concerned about the chemicals in the foods we eat? It is naive to think that just because “food” is packaged in brightly-colored boxes and bags, with cute little animals or charming , fictitious, characters drawn on the front, that those “foods” are okay to eat. Since when did ignoring the fact that so many ingredients lists read like something out of a Chemistry book become the norm?
Regardless of your thoughts about Vani’s delivery of the information she uncovers, regardless of whether or not she’s a Scientist or a Registered Dietician, the bottom line is this: We are ALL called to be consumer activists. We have a right to not only understand what is added to our food, we have a right to protect ourselves and our families from food additives that directly compromise or affect our health.
The FOOD BABE Way is a quick, concise and informative read that provides practical steps for educating yourself and making the transition to a healthier lifestyle. I was pleased to see, that of the “21 Good Habits” described in Vani’s book, I already practice “19” of them!!! What does this say to me? This says that if a busy Mom of five took three years to implement these on her own, imagine the advantage someone else could have with all that information condensed into 277 pages?! Furthermore, Vani includes an additional 54 pages of recipes and meal plans to round out your read and set you up for success! She doesn’t just tell you what to avoid, she gives you the information to make your own informed decisions and goes one step further to provide you with a list of the better-for-you alternatives!
I look forward to using and posting some of her amazing recipes!!! Especially her Cinnamon Raisin French Toast Crunch, as well as her Almond Chocolate Freezer Fudge–yum!!!! Vani’s White Bean Chilli has already become a Fitness MOMent’s Family fave!

I LOVE Food Babe!! I totally agrees with the fact that people should be more concerned with the chemicals in food than Vani’s “scare tactics”…It’s really quite unbelievable the things this country allows in our foods… 🙁 I’ll have to look into getting this book!!
I love the Food Babe! If we don’t look out for our own health, with the help of people like Vani who’s going to? The food industry? The government? Not likely!

Laura, to answer your question, I did not already start my day with lemon water nor had I “fasted” on a regular basis…I will drink plain water, or start my day with tea, but I find the lemon water really bothers my stomach if I drink it every day. Surprisingly, I found out that my whole house water IS filtered already!
That sounds like a very interesting book. I wonder what the 21 habits are!
