Step aside Brown rice, Quinoa and Farro, there’s a new kid in town! Just when you thought you had complex carbs all figured out, a new super grain has arrived
on the scene! Freekeh has up to three times the fiber and protein found in brown rice, and fewer calories than quinoa and white rice. As a personal health and wellness Coach, one of the biggest complaints from my clients is that all there is to eat is “chicken and asparagus”. When I tell them that my family eats grains every night, you can imagine the looks on their faces! Variety is the spice of life and grains are a wonderful way to round out any meal. I received two packages of Original and Rosemary Sage Freekeh for my family to try. My kids are already familiar with brown rice, quinoa, and couscous, so they were just as excited as I was to try something new. We’re a family of foodies, so we opted to test out the Rosemary Sage, which we paired with grilled salmon and steamed broccoli. I have a busy family and five kids, so I tend to keep my meals simple, but if you’re looking for some recipe ideas, check these out here http://www.freekeh-foods.com/recipes.
Right away my kids noted that it had the consistency of steal-cut oatmeal and after looking at the photos on the Freekeh Foods website, I’m almost certain that it does when cooked, but it did not detract from our meal. Although the consistency was different than we expected, we were pleasantly surprised by the taste. It was “nutty and chewy” as the package described and while we expected the Rosemary and Sage taste to be stronger–I think that preference speaks more to our own preferences as we primarily eat what would be described as a Mediterranean diet–overall we were excited to have The Next Hot Super Food to add to our table! Freekeh Foods is so certain that your family will #LOVEFREEKEH too that I have a chance to send ONE LUCKY WINNER a FREE PACKAGE of ANY FLAVOR just by CLICKING ON MY FACEBOOK or INSTAGRAM POST and saying “I’M IN”!!! So if I were to eat this for breakfast, just straight up? Or with butter and brown sugar!!! Ha! Just kidding about the additional “toppings”!!
Actually Mark, that sounds pretty delicious!!! If you decide to try it that way, you have to stop back here and let me know how it tastes! I’ve seen some great breakfast recipes out there!

Stacey, I think they have such a nice variety that it’d be hard NOT to like it! Good luck!
