One of the many things I pride myself in, besides raising a large family, is raising children who are as Eco-conscious as they are socially conscious, which is why I was excited to give my impressions of Eco Voom Cleaning products!
One of the first things I noticed (besides the adorable looking green tree frog) is that all five of Eco Voom’s products were colorless and odorless. I was raised in an era where “scent recognition” was synonymous with “brand identity”; products like “Mr. Clean”, “Pine-Sol” and “Dow Bathroom Cleaner” all evoke very strong memories based on smell. If it smelled good, it must be clean. It never occurred to me when I was younger, that harsh chemicals and dyes were not only associated with those scents, but that they were unsafe for the environment as well.
I’ll admit that the fact that Eco Voom is odorless, initially gave me pause. However, I was thrilled to discover for myself that they were just as effective as their “fragrant” counterparts in every way!!! Cleaning is high on my daily “to do” list and now that I’ve made the switch to organic/clean eating, it only makes sense to try products that are environmentally sensitive.
The first two products I used right away were the Dish Soap and Glass Cleaner. I have a busy family of seven, five of whom range in ages from 10-21, living in my household. We spend 75% of our time in and around the kitchen, cooking, hanging out and entertaining friends. Even with that many people in our home, I’m meticulous about cleaning. In fact, I’ve been using my Eco Voom cleaning products for a little over two weeks now and I’m nearly out of dish soap! I have granite counter tops as well and tried both the Glass Cleaner and Degreaser on them, but found that the Glass Cleaner did a better job of giving me a see-through shine and it worked easily, as well, on my sliding glass doors. I also noticed that my skin usually feels tight and itchy after washing pots and pans by hand with my regular dish soap, but I found with the Eco Voom I felt neither.
The kids found the “oxy-powered” Spot Remover was the one item that they really wanted to test. All three of the younger kids play sports and if you think I’m particular in the kitchen, I am even more so with the laundry!!! My ten year old’s clothing rivals “Pig Pen’s” after a day at school, never-mind the soccer field. Most of his clothing is dry-fit and it absorbs dirt and oil pretty easily. The kids and I used the Spot Remover as a pre-treater and I’m happy to admit, it did what it was designed to do. I found a shirt in the back of my son’s closet that had been thrown there while it was still dirty (probably so he didn’t have to put it in his laundry hamper)! It had two greasy stains of some sort and I was pretty sure that even though he’d just gotten it for Christmas, I was going to have to throw it away. I used the Spot Remover and let it stand over night before washing it. He came out of his room this morning wearing it and you’d never know by looking at it, that I thought it was a lost cause.
Overall I found Eco Voom lived up to its promise. It cleaned just as effectively as its scented, brand name, counterparts! I’m looking forward to being able to buy it locally and even submitted a suggestion on their website. Give it a try…you won’t be disappointed!
